Sony recently revealed the Playstation Classic more than 25 years after the release of the original console. The original Playstation was a big part of my childhood, I literally grew up playing this thing. So hearing about the Classic coming out pre-loaded with 20 games was exciting news. But how necessary is it? I mean, we’ve already bought PS1 classics on the PS3 when it came out, and then again we’ve had to buy the same classics on the PS4. While almost certainly this was revealed to compete with the NES/SNES Classic systems, I feel it’s also another way for Sony to get us to buy the same games… again.
I’m not going to knock the system though, because the games that were available on it were some of my most cherished gaming memories. As I stated before it comes pre-loaded with 20 games, these include but are not limited to the legendary Final Fantasy VII, Tekken 3 and Wild Arms, just to name a few. Sounds good right? I’m glad it won’t be coming with a bunch of cheap unheard of games at least. The system emulates not only the look and feel of the original, but even the packaging it originally came in! They are going 100% full nostalgia here.
Who knows. This might be worth buying if I can keep my favorite PS1 games in one place and not spread across the different consoles. Here’s to you Sony, you know how to make me throw money at you.
